Planning poker help, the actual product limits and a few fixes to get your table moving again.
Is PointRoom free, and do I need an account?
Yes. The current app is free and has no payment flow. Enter a display name to play; no email or password is required. An anonymous authentication session keeps your identity stable in the browser.
How do I create a room or join my team?
Choose Create a room on the homepage, enter your name and optionally name the room. Share the invitation link, QR code or six-character code. Teammates open the link or enter the code on the homepage, then join with their names.
Which planning poker cards are available?
The fixed deck is 0, ½, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55 and 89, plus ? for more information and coffee for a break. The half-point card is a relative estimate, not half an hour. Custom and T-shirt decks are not currently available.
Why has auto-reveal not happened yet?
Auto-reveal waits for every joined room member to vote, including the host and temporarily disconnected players. The host can reveal manually after at least one vote. There is no separate spectator role.
How long does a room last, and can I keep the results?
A room lasts 24 hours from creation. Accepted estimates are kept in its temporary session ledger. Copy the decisions you need into your own backlog before ending the room or its expiry. There is no permanent workspace, export button or automatic tracker sync.
How many people can join?
A room supports up to 50 members. Up to 10 have visual seats at the table, while the full roster remains available. Creating new rooms is limited to 12 per hour per anonymous user.
Why do two tabs show the same player?
Tabs in one browser share the same anonymous identity. Use another browser, a separate browser profile, a private browsing session or another device to test a second participant.
Why can I not hear sounds or cowboy voices?
Audio starts muted. Open the speaker button for Table audio settings, enable Table effects or Cowboy voices, raise the volume and choose Test effects or Test voice. A browser needs a user interaction to activate audio. Also check the tab's mute setting and your system volume.
Can I hide paper tosses and emotes?
Yes. Quiet table hides and mutes social effects on your device without changing anyone else's settings. You can separately mute card effects and voices in the audio menu. Reduced-motion preferences replace flying paper with a simpler arrival indicator.
How do I throw a paper ball?
Open Table play, choose Paper toss and a teammate, or click another online player's portrait. You can also choose Quick draw for a playful cowboy flash and smoke effect. Only current room members can send and receive tosses. Wait five seconds between throws. Tosses disappear after a few seconds and do not change estimates.
Why are my cards disabled or the table reconnecting?
A card can be played only during an active voting round while connected. The host may still need to add a story, or the round may already be revealed. Wait for the live connection to recover, check your network and confirm the room has not ended or expired.
Does PointRoom work with Jira, Linear or a video meeting tool?
Use PointRoom alongside your usual backlog and meeting tools. You can type an external reference into a story, but the app does not import issues, write estimates back to trackers, provide a video call or record your microphone.
Are planning poker and story points required by Scrum?
No. They are optional estimation practices. Choose a method that helps your team understand and size work; the Scrum framework does not prescribe a planning poker deck or a story-point scale.
