THE POINTROOM FIELD GUIDE · WHY POINTROOM

About PointRoom: a small, playful tool for shared estimates

Learn what PointRoom is built for, how its guides are prepared and where its free, temporary planning poker workflow fits your team.

PointRoom is a browser-based planning poker tool for teams that want a shared estimate without a workspace setup. Open a temporary room, invite people and discuss the work around a Western saloon table.

The product makes room for both independent thinking and a little personality. Hidden cards are central; cowboy portraits, emotes, paper tosses and audio are optional.

Designed for the conversation behind the number

A useful estimate can expose an assumption, a missing test case or a dependency. PointRoom provides the cards and shared results, while your team decides what the work means. It does not score people's performance or claim to predict delivery automatically.

Use the app with your usual meeting tool and issue tracker. It is deliberately a temporary estimation room rather than a project-management workspace.

How the learning guides are prepared

The PointRoom guides explain the app's implemented behavior and practical estimation routines. They are prepared with AI assistance and checked against the product and linked primary sources. Where an article describes Scrum or an established estimation technique, its source list points to further reading.

Worked examples, reference estimates and meeting agendas are illustrative. They are not research findings, universal point values or accounts of named customer teams. Suggestions are distinguished from requirements so you can adapt them to your context.

PointRoom publishes under its own product name. We do not present invented expert biographies, customer numbers or testimonials. Pages show a content date; that date changes when the substance is updated, rather than on every deployment.

Temporary rooms and clear choices

No email address is needed to play. An anonymous session identifies you; rooms expire after 24 hours. Save any decisions you need in your own backlog before ending the session. The privacy page explains stored data and local preferences in more detail.

Sound and spoken reactions start muted, and quiet-table controls let each person choose how much atmosphere they want. No microphone is used for the bundled synthetic voice clips.

PUT IT INTO PRACTICE

A shared estimate starts with a shared table.
